The Institute of Geoenergy of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH/IG) participated in the Joint Conference of the MikroBioKosmos Society & The Central and East Europe Symposium of Microbial Ecology (#mbkceesme2025), which was successfully held on 22–24 September 2025 at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.
FORTH/IG researcher Dr. Evina Gontikaki presented to the scientific community the results of her research on the bioremediation of deep-sea ecosystems following accidental hydrocarbon spills through the activity of deep-sea microorganisms.
In addition, a former fellow of the TWINN2SET project of FORTH/IG presented the results of research conducted at IFP Energies Nouvelle (IFPEN) in France, focusing on subsurface microbial populations and the challenges posed by their activity in underground hydrogen storage.
