Study of gas emissions by IG researchers

On 24 February 2022, a meeting was held between the Mayor of Deskati, Dimitrios Kordilas, and representatives of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas, Institute of Geoenergy (FORTH/IG), Dr. S. Bellas and Dr. D. Marinakis, in the presence of Mr. G. Papaelias. The meeting concerned the project studying gas emissions in the area of the Katakali settlement in the Municipality of Deskati, which is supported through a Programmatic Agreement with the Region of Western Macedonia.

The researchers successfully carried out gas sampling, following the separation and isolation of water from the boreholes. The geochemical analyses that will follow are expected to provide a detailed understanding of the origin of these gases.
