Principal Researcher

Dr. Spyridon Bellas is a Principal Researcher at the Institute of Geoenergy (IG) of the Foundation for Research & Technology -Hellas (FORTH) and currently is acting as the Scientific Council’s Chair. He studied Geology at Patras University, Greece and holds a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences from the Freie Universtität Berlin, Germany (FU-Berlin), studying bio- and lithostratigraphy of deep-water foreland basin clastics, developing Eocene to Miocene age world-wide correlations.

Dr. Nikolaos Kostoglou is a Researcher Grade B’ (Associate Research Professor) at the Institute of GeoEnergy of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), based in Chania, Greece. He also maintains a strong research collaboration with the Technical University of Leoben (Austria), where he previously served for eight years as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher and Group Leader in Porous Materials within Prof. Christian Mitterer’s research group.

Dr. Evina Gontikaki is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of GeoEnergy (IG) of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). She holds a degree in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and an MSc in Oceanography from the University of Southampton / National Oceanography Centre (UK).
