Aristidis Koutroulis is Associate Professor of Applied Hydraulics and Hydrology at the Technical University of Crete. He is Head of the Hydrologic and Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory and Director of Postgraduate Studies at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
He specializes in hydroclimatology, hydrological extremes and the impacts of climate change on water resources. He has made significant contributions to the scientific community with more than 150 scientific contributions, including high-impact papers in leading journals and reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Recognized among the top 2% of the world's top environmental scientists, he serves as an associate editor of the Climate Services Journal and is actively involved with global impact initiatives such as the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISI-MIP).
Dr Koutroulis has led and participated in more than 25 research and innovation projects, including under Horizon Europe-2020-FP7, PRIMA, ESA, GSRT, COST, focusing on sustainable water management, climate resilience and adaptation strategies. As an educator, he mentors students and professionals while promoting knowledge in hydrology and environmental sustainability.
