Short CV

Georgia Charalampous (GC) holds a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Protein Biotechnology from the University of Crete. Currently she is a PhD student at the Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CHENVENG) department of the Technical University of Crete (TUC), in collaboration with the Institute of Geoenergy, FORTH (PhD thesis: Microbial communities in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and their hydrocarbon degradation capability). As part of her MSc studies, she conducted her diploma thesis at the Institute of Molecular Cell & Systems Biology at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Following her MSc thesis, she remained at the University of Glasgow where she continued as a graduate researcher (2014-2015). Following that, GC became involved as a scientific associate in the Horizon 2020 project, “INMARE” (2016-2019) at the CHENVENG, TUC. She started her PhD in 2019 as part of the “HEALMED” research project and since 2022 she is involved as a scientific associate in the “X-PRESS” research project funded by H.F.R.I, at the Institute of Geoenergy, FORTH.
